I purchased this book in hopes of finding ideas to become a freelancer in a particular area. However, I quickly realized this was not a book to help figure out what type of freelance work to do, rather it’s a series of tips on how to run/conduct your freelance business. Overall there are good tips and tricks for the trade, bearing that you already know what type of freelance work you’re going to do. This will be a good resource to have once I find a type of freelance job that I enjoy and excel at.Product details

I loved the practical nature of this book. It's a quick read which is a huge plus - the author doesn't waste your time but gets right to the key things to consider and do as a freelancer. Loved the pro-tips throughout from someone who clearly wants the reader to learn from things he did. Great that there are tips for each phase of the work.
Want to feel fully prepared to go out on your own in the world of freelance? Then buy this book. It's a quick read, full of detailed information that arms you with the knowledge and confidence you need to be successful. You'd have to have endless hours of coffee and lunch meetings with your freelance friends to obtain the information that's in here.
For all those who are thinking about getting into freelancing or who are already freelancing this book gets right to the point on how you can improve your strategies to become more successful. Definitely a must have!
I read this book just before going back to freelance writing after 9 years of small agency employment. It took about an hour to read, and I appreciated the conversational, cut-to-the-chase writing - nothing stuffy, long winded, or condescending here. It's full of things I wish I knew the first time around, other points I never considered, and a good dose of confidence building that removed a little apprehension from this transition. Definitely worth the read for newbies or returning freelancers!
I've been a full-time freelancer for about two years and I wish this book had been around when I went out on my own - it would have saved me a lot of time figuring out what I really needed to get started and what to focus on. The biggest challenge for me was all of the things that I didn't think about but that are necessary to know about running a business. An hour with this book and you'll be able to put together an airtight game plan and save yourself a lot of trial and error. A great resource for new freelancers but a good refresher for veterans as well. Well worth the investment.
I have been considering doing freelance work for a few years but the idea seemed overwhelming. This book has practical advice as well as friendly encouragement. It's like having a cup of coffee with a friend who's been there, done that and is sharing his experience. I was inspired to set up a home office and take the next steps toward becoming a full-time freelancer. Highly recommend 40 Freelancing Secrets.
